Introduction

The International Foundation Program of our university was officially established on August 1, 2025, with Associate Professor Eric Kin-Lap Lee (李建立) serving as its first Director.

In its early stage, the program pioneered the International Program of Industry-Academia Collaboration, with the first cohort admitted in the Spring Semester of 2024. This initial class was hosted by the Department of Hospitality Management and specifically recruited students from Vietnam, marking the beginning of the program’s mission to cultivate cross-cultural talent and promote international exchange.

As a first-level administrative unit of the university, the International Foundation Program oversees two subordinate divisions:

Foreign and Overseas Students Counseling Center (外籍暨僑生輔導中心) – responsible for supporting international students in daily life adaptation, counseling, and extracurricular activities.

Chinese Language Center (華語中心) – dedicated to Chinese language education, cultural immersion, and supporting students in achieving higher levels of Chinese proficiency.

Each section is led by a Director, ensuring focused guidance and comprehensive services for international students.

The International Foundation Program is dedicated to supporting international students as well as students from Hong Kong, Macao, and other regions. We provide comprehensive services in study guidance, life counseling, and international exchange and cooperation. Our mission is to create a friendly and supportive learning environment, enabling students to adapt smoothly to campus life while fostering meaningful cross-cultural interaction.

Creating a Bilingual Campus Environment

To strengthen the international atmosphere on campus, the university actively promotes a bilingual learning environment. Many academic buildings are now equipped with bilingual signage, helping international students navigate the campus with ease. In addition, the Overseas Exchange Center offers a welcoming space designed to ease homesickness while providing opportunities for both local and international students to connect, communicate, and learn from one another.

Expanding English-Taught Education

The university strongly promotes bilingual and all-English instruction. To enhance faculty teaching capacity, teachers participate in professional training for all-English teaching. At present, the Department of Pharmacy and Master Program, the Department of Nursing, and the Department of Pet Care and Grooming collectively offer seven all-English courses. These programs allow students to strengthen their English proficiency while acquiring professional knowledge.

Supporting Chinese Language Learning

Recognizing the importance of Chinese proficiency, the university also provides robust support for international students’ language development. We have trained a number of qualified teachers in Chinese language education and organized lectures and forums on Chinese teaching, encouraging both teachers and students to engage more deeply in Chinese language and cultural learning.

Our Commitment

The International Foundation Program will continue to provide international students with well-rounded academic and personal support. By promoting international exchange, fostering bilingual education, and cultivating a diverse and inclusive campus, we aim to create an environment where every student can thrive.
